Recruiting physicians to provide acute and chronic medical care for 30 patients at Gorge Road Hospital during their post-hospitalization physical rehabilitation. Patients are transferred from Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals and admitted from Cowichan District Hospital, Saanich Peninsula Hospital, and Lady Minto Hospital. The patient length of stay is 14 to 90 days.

Care is provided by a collegial group of physicians who share on-call responsibilities. Physician coverage is on-site 8:00-17:00 Monday to Friday, and on-call overnights and weekends/holidays. Hours are very flexible, up to 45 hrs/week if desired.

Island Health is affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and Island Medical Program and the physicians support undergraduate and resident teaching at the hospital site.

Island Health seeks candidates with excellent communication skills, ability to work in a collaborative, team-based approach, with a commitment to continuity of care. Recent acute care experience an asset.
