The following has been sent on behalf Dr. Ben Williams, Vice President Medicine, Quality, Research and Chief Medical Officer
It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Keith Menard is the successful candidate for the position of Executive Medical Director, Medical Staff Governance.
Dr. Menard moved to Nanaimo in 2004 as a consultant paediatrician and has held various leadership roles in Island Health. He has been Department Head, Maternity Care and Pediatrics and is the current Chair of the Medical Education Resource Committee and Vice-Chair of the Health Authority Medical Advisory Committee.
Dr. Menard is passionate about working to develop education and onboarding for new members of the medical staff, and supporting medical staff through well organized medical staff governance. He has been a key leader creating departmental policies to ensure fair processes and clear decision making, and has also lead initiatives to better identify and address medical staff HR challenges.
In his spare time Keith enjoys traveling and seeing new parts of the world and spending quality time with his family. Over the past few years he has become an avid motorcyclist (much to his wife’s distress) and can frequently be spotted cruising the island.
I would also like to acknowledge Dr. Ian Thompson on his retirement and thank him for his exemplary service. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Menard to his new role in Island Health.
