James completed Medical School at McGill University in Montreal and residency in Diagnostic Radiology and subsequently Nuclear Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. He chose this practice as medical imaging allows us to empower patients and physicians with information to make critical decisions that impact patient care. As a Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine physician, he plays an important role in this process which is constantly evolving and interesting. The most meaningful aspect of this practice is seeing the positive impact of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in individual patient care. James has a particular practice interest in cardiovascular imaging and oncologic imaging. In addition, he is also interested in teaching and is actively involved in teaching residents through the UBC Nuclear Medicine program. He is hopeful that the future of healthcare is more open to communication and collaboration between different stakeholders in our medical system, which will provide new innovations in healthcare to patients faster.
In his spare time, you can find James hiking, kayaking, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
Welcome Dr. Curtis to your position of Medical Lead, Nuclear Medicine.
