Effective February 1st, 2020 Dr. Andrew assumes the Department Head and Medical Director for Medical Imaging. He will be taking over the reins from Dr. John Mathieson who has served in this role for the past 14 years.
Dr. Andrew is originally from Halifax, and completed medical school in 2004, residency in 2009 and Nuclear Medicine fellowship in 2010 at the University of Toronto. He brings 19 years of experience in the medical field and has worked with Island Health as a Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine physician since 2010.
In his new role, Dr. Andrew is excited to continue to build an environment within Island Health where timely, local, and high quality imaging thrives.
Dr. Andrew lives in Victoria with his partner, Stephanie. Together, they aim to keep Vancouver Island a fantastic place to live and work, so that one day their two young daughters will choose to stay here. Alan serves on the board for Threshold Housing Society, a non-profit working to end youth homelessness.
Dr. Andrew’s base will be at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in the main Medical Imaging Admin office in the D&T, where he will co-lead with Lori House and will be supported by Damone Anderson (Mat leave for Jessica Tweedhope).
