Community MOST Becoming Available in the EHR | March 30

The following has been sent to staff and providers at acute care sites on behalf of the MOST Working Group.

WHAT IS HAPPENING

To support cross-venue care planning communication, community practitioners are now being encouraged to submit Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment they complete in the community to Island Health for inclusion in our electronic health record (EHR).

At Island Health sites using eMOST, these community orders appear in the PowerChart banner bar as would eMOST completed in hospital.

Island Health facilities that are not yet using eMOST (Royal Jubilee Hospital, Campbell River and District Hospital, Comox Valley Hospital, Port Hardy Hospital, Port McNeill Hospital) can access this information from the Results Review.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Community practitioners in the Island Health region have been encouraged to submit MOSTs completed in community practice to Island Health via a fax solution (1-250-740-2687) . These MOSTs are entered as electronic orders by informatics nurses a patient’s record within 24 hours of receipt.
  • At Island Health sites not yet activated with eMOST, these community MOSTs are viewable in Results Review, but will not show up in the banner bar.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

  • All patients with a MOST completed in the community should have that MOST reviewed and re-ordered within 24 hours of admission.
