Webinar: Choosing Wisely Canada - Pediatric Bronchiolitis

The Choosing Wisely Canada Bronchiolitis Toolkit provides tools and resources to help clinicians and caregivers manage bronchiolitis in cold and flu season.

During the cold and flu season, common viruses like Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) can lead to bronchiolitis, a viral lung infection primarily affecting children under the age of two.

In most cases, children will get better without the need for additional tests or treatments. Despite this, more than half of children with bronchiolitis receive unnecessary tests and treatments, like antibiotics or chest X-rays. When it comes to bronchiolitis, less is best.

Join Choosing Wisely Talks on January 31 at 9 a.m. PST for a discussion on why “less is best” when it comes to bronchiolitis. Speakers will discuss practical guidance in managing bronchiolitis, while sharing tools and resources from the Choosing Wisely Canada Toolkit that was released in November 2023.  Speakers include Drs. Olivia Ostrow (SickKids Hospital) and Jennifer Young (College of Family Physicians of Canada).

In November 2023, experts Dr. Claire Seaton, pediatrician, BC Children’s Hospital and Dr. Tracy Monk, family physician, Pathways BC, held a virtual education session to explore the toolkit joined by 71 individuals working in primary, urgent and emergency care.
