The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Island Health, is seeking either one full-time or two part-time Geriatric Psychiatrists to join 9 others in Victoria.

The successful candidates will provide geriatric psychiatry consultation to inpatient and outpatient services, including support for the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Team at Victoria General Hospital, outpatient services at the Senior’s Outpatient Clinic (SOPC) at Royal Jubilee Hospital, support for the Esquimalt Westshore Health Unit (EWHU) and consultation at several Long Term Care Facilities.

There may also be opportunities to provide service in Neuromodulatory treatments (ECT, TMS) as well as Telehealth to other island communities.

Participation in the Geriatric Psychiatry call rotation is a requirement of these positions.

The Division enjoys collegial relationships with the Island Health geriatric medicine, adult psychiatry and hospitalist services.

Inpatient services and the outpatient clinics are supported by interdisciplinary teams.

As Island Health is part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program there is opportunity for training of medical students and residents and applying for a clinical appointment is expected.

Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.

The successful candidates will be expected to participate in all departmental, clinical and operational team meetings and take on a lead roles when required.

Ideally looking for two Geriatric Psychiatrists to work 0.6 FTE each, however, would also consider candidates who are interested in full-time or part-time work.
