Unintended Deactivation of Access Cards
In February, several medical staff reported difficulties accessing Island Health sites with their proxy card. Security Control (SECCON) has confirmed there was an unintended deletion of 381 records, which has impacted some medical staff. The deletion occurred when an outdated data server was overloaded with records. Unfortunately, there is no way of determining whose access cards have been impacted. Sporadic deactivations may occur until the server capacity issue is addressed by SECCON.

Revision to Obstetrical Order Sets
As part of the Order Set Harmonization (OSH) Project, a suite of Obstetrical order sets have been revised to meet SOGC, and PSBC clinical practice guidelines and recommendations. These changes have been in place at our CPOE sites (NRGH and VGH) for 6 months, and they are now being released to paper-based sites.

New Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS) is Live
A new cloud-based Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS) has been deployed across Island Health as of March 1, 2025, replacing the old web-based system. Island Health is the third health authority in BC to use this new PSLS. Northern Health has been using it since March 5, 2024, and Interior Health since November 1, 2024.
