Accreditation Canada 2024 Survey Results
The results from the Sequence 2 survey, which took place March 10-15, 2024, are now available, and we are pleased to announce that Island Health has received Accredited Status from Accreditation Canada.

Rural Voices Gathering - Nov 20 & 27
The Rural Voices Gathering will be held virtually via Zoom on November 20 and 27th, with local, in-person community discussion groups to meet between the virtual dates. Registration is free and open to anyone living, working or providing services to a rural, remote, First Nations or Métis community in British Columbia.

“Cool, Calm and Prepared” Vibe as VGH & GRH Go Live with CPOE
On September 14, VGH and Gorge Road Health Centre successfully launched their Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) system. Executive Director Gillian Kozinka praised the teamwork behind the smooth transition, while Dr. Chloe Lemire-Elmore noted the immediate improvements in patient care and efficiency.

Province Launches Opioid Treatment Access (OTA) Line
We are pleased to share a significant development in the ongoing effort to support individuals dealing with Opioid Use Disorder across British Columbia. The Province has recently launched the Opioid Treatment Access Line (OTA), a new initiative designed to provide a starting point to get connected to care.

Island Health is working to improve its medical leadership structure, focusing on role clarity, co-leadership, governance, FTE allocation, compensation policies, and support for onboarding and development. This effort will be collaborative, with input from medical staff and regular updates.
