Go-Live: Video On-Demand Interpreting now available at your site

Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is an on-demand application that gives care providers easy access to a live, medically trained interpreter through video or audio in a matter of seconds. Interpreting services are available at no cost for all Island Health programs. Use of interpreting services improves the quality and safety of patient care with more than 240 languages available, including American Sign Language (ASL).

Nearly 600 lives lost to unregulated drugs in first three months of 2023

More than seven years after the declaration of a public-health emergency, the toxic, unregulated drug supply continues to claim the lives of British Columbians in record numbers, according to preliminary reporting released by the BC Coroners Service. At least 374 deaths believed to be caused by toxic drugs were reported to the BC Coroners Service in February (177) and March (197), which equates to an average of 6.4 lives lost per day.
