Congratulations to Michelle Gerow, for receiving Island Savings MHSU Hero Award!

As a valued supporter of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and our mental health campaign, Equipped to Heal, Island Savings has created an award to recognize the hard work and dedication of MHSU staff.
Recipients of the MHSU Hero Award are nominated by their colleagues and a new recipient is chosen every three months! There will be 12 awards given out in total over three years. Below is an excerpt from her nomination.
Michelle works the much undervalued night shift; regular, reliable, knowledgeable staff in these lines are absolutely priceless. As a big site with many high needs clients, this is a crucial role with high responsibilities.
Morning shift staff know that when Michelle has been working they can turn up to work with breakfast already prepped, clients safe and comfortable and everything ready for the extremely busy days. Michelle is fully aware of the issues generated by short staffing and will step in to work extra shifts both evenings and mornings, to ensure that the site runs smoothly and clients are supported.
She handles the (complex) meds when the site is short on nursing staff; cares for clients with high physical as well as mental needs, is known and trusted by everyone and apparently has an encyclopedic memory for both client and staff needs. A true unsung hero!
Michelle is well respected by her teammates and consistently goes above and beyond to care for her patients.
Congratulations Michelle on this well deserved recognition!
