Pandemic Planning COVID-19 Update
This morning, Dr. Bonnie Henry noted that data collected from December 14 to January 6 confirms that outside of being unvaccinated, the single most important risk factor for having severe COVID-19 illness requiring hospitalization is age. People who are aged 80 and older are 28 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 illness.

Pandemic Planning COVID-19 Update
Dr. Bonnie Henry said gyms and adult fitness can restart on January 20th with some new guidance to allow that to happen safely. Other Public Health Orders have been extended to February 16th. This includes capacity limits at restaurants and sporting events, closure of bars, and mandatory COVID safety plans for all businesses.

COVID-19 modelling was presented today by Dr. Bonnie Henry, and it shows the Omicron wave may have peaked last weekend. However, the peak of hospitalizations is still to come, and will likely coincide with the peak of health-care worker illness with the virus.
