Originally from the Cowichan Valley, Yvanne left for Ontario and completed a BA Hons in Women's Studies and French Literature at Trent University. It was there that she first discovered her interest in Midwifery. Eventually, she applied to the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University and received a Bachelor of Health Science in Midwifery in 2005. Upon completion, she moved to Kingston, ON and worked in a practice for two years. However, the pull to come back to the Island was too strong and in 2008 she returned to the west coast with her family and has since been practicing out of NRGH. Yvanne has been the Midwifery Division Head for Geo 2/3 since 2016 and the Co-Medical Lead for Maternity at NRGH since 2019. When not working, Yvanne can be found reading books, quilting or going for early morning runs.
