The successful candidate will participate in a community orthopedic practice with 1 in 7 call responsibilities. They must demonstrate exemplary interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively within the healthcare environment and demonstrate technical competence in providing orthopedic care. The candidate will be expected to manage non-axial orthopedic trauma, as well as primary total knee and hip arthroplasty. Further fellowship training in any reconstructive orthopedic sub-specialty or trauma will be considered an asset.
Interested applicants will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2025 (flexible).
Island Health is affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and the Division of Orthopedic Surgery supports senior medical students from the Island medical program based at the University of Victoria and the Family Practice Residency Program – Nanaimo Site residents who are based at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Participation in the teaching program would be an asset.
