Applications are invited for a position in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Victoria General Hospital. The Department of Maternity Care and Pediatrics seeks a Royal College certified or eligible neonatologist to join our team of 4 neonatologists. This is a 0.9FTE position with a 1:4 non-resident on-call schedule.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is part of BC Perinatal Network, an integrated collaborative network of academic and clinical centers providing advanced newborn care within the province. The unit admits over 500 newborns per year, both inborn and regional/provincial transfers. Clinical care is provided to high-risk newborns within our Level 3 NICU, including HFOV and neonatal surgery. Active participation in the Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic is expected. The NICU is supported by perinatology, subspecialty pediatricians, pediatric surgical subspecialties, pediatric anesthesia, and general pediatricians.
With the establishment of the UBC Island Medical Program and the expansion of the pediatric residency training within BC, you will have an academic/educational mandate for clinical teaching. You will become a member of the clinical faculty of the UBC Department of Pediatrics and the University of Victoria Island Medical Program.
Victoria General Hospital is the tertiary pediatric referral center for Vancouver Island providing extensive pediatric subspecialty and pediatric surgical subspecialty services. The NICU provides services to a 350,000 direct referral population and a tertiary referral population of 850,000.
