Late Radiation-Associated Dysphagia (Late RAD): Information for the Primary Care Network:

Late radiation-associated dysphagia (late RAD) is a relatively rare (3-8%) new or progressive onset of severe oropharyngeal dysphagia following a long period of stable functioning after head and neck radiation. The Speech and Language Pathologists at BC Cancer – Victoria would like you to be aware of this possibility in your patients who have undergone head and neck radiation therapy in the past years and encourage you to make referrals accordingly.
