About the Workshop

Island Health is excited to host Dr. Tom Lloyd and Dr. Dawn Martin for a new virtual learning workshop. The workshop aims to equip new medical leaders with the skills to promote and encourage psychologically safe environments in the workplace.

The workshop is open to medical staff who have transitioned into leadership roles within the last 18 months. This learning opportunity is co-funded via the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Physician Psychological and Physical Safety. The workshop consists of four, 2-hour, virtual education sessions. Medical staff members will be compensated at sessional rates while attending the workshop sessions.

As a workshop participant, you will learn how to:

  • Explore and enhance your own self, relational, situational and organizational-awareness.
  • Develop practical strategies for building and managing diverse relationships in a healthcare setting.
  • Explore strategies for managing self care, including boundary setting.
  • Identify strategies for building clarity and safety in teams.
  • Apply skills to manage leadership relationships, manage unprofessional behaviour in those you lead, and lead change in your teams.
