Did you know that resident doctors are also Island Health employees? Approximately 300 to 400 resident doctors work across the Health Authority, contributing every day to patient care teams in a wide range of programs.
Resident doctors play a vital role in delivering care and represent the future of our health care system. Medical residency is a demanding and formative period that cannot be fully captured in a few sentences. It is a time of intensive learning, long hours, and a deep commitment to patients and their families.
We also recognize the dedication and support of our medical staff—including preceptors and program directors—whose guidance and mentorship are essential to resident doctors’ training and success.
Please join us in celebrating our resident doctors not only during this week, but throughout the year, as we work together to provide high-quality patient care. Learn more here.
