We are excited to extend an invitation for members of the Island Health team to join the 3rd cohort of the Nursing and Allied Health Advisory Council (NAHAC)!
What is the Nursing and Allied Health Advisory Council (NAHAC)?
The Nursing and Allied Health Advisory Council (NAHAC) first began in June 2019, and has contributed to the success of 57 system-wide Island Health initiatives. NAHAC contributions are from the health team members' perspective; with a focus on supporting good clinical governance, better decision-making, influencing positive change, and advancing health care systems transformation. As a key part of the Island Health current and future clinical governance landscape, NAHAC provides direction, endorsement, recommendations, approval, and advisory, to senior leadership and all areas of governance within Island Health – from the perspective of the people at the point-of-care.
Who Can Apply?
NAHAC brings together diverse members from every region and health care team. From Patient Porters, Nursing and Nurse Practitioners, Dental Hygienists, Social Workers, to Speech Language Pathologists (and everyone in-between), if you are part of the care journey for the people receiving care at Island Health, there is a place for you on NAHAC.
How to Apply
If you are interested influencing change, inspiring a new vision for practice, and building relationships across the care team and our service areas, we invite you to apply today to be a member of this unique and dynamic Council. No experience is necessary. We are looking for your enthusiasm, your desire to contribute, your great sense of humour, and your driving commitment to working collaboratively across dividing lines to improve health and care.

What is the Commitment?
Council meetings take place once per month for 2-3.5 hours. Some pre-reading is required and active participation at the majority of meetings is expected. Meetings currently take place via video and teleconference and include two in-person meetings per year. Members are asked to commit to a two-year term of membership.
Successful applicants will be supported to attend NAHAC meetings and engage in NAHAC work, including ensuring you are paid for your time and your absence at the point of care is backfilled. The NAHAC Secretariat will work with you and your leaders to ensure that you can be an active member of NAHAC within the context of your clinical role.
