Theresa Yuha - Rural Programs Liaison

As the Rural Programs Liaison for Island Health, Theresa seeks opportunities to support connections to rural programs. Through engagement and consultation with rural physicians and medical leaders, she builds relationships, increases communications and identifies opportunities for community support and planning for rural programs.

Theresa is passionate about improving health outcomes, particularly rural health care and the opportunity to relate her experiences growing up in a rural community. She holds twoTY_photo.jpg Bachelors Degrees, one in Business Management (Major in Accounting) and another in Arts (Major in Sport, Health & Physical Education) and is currently completing her Masters of Public Health (Major in Population Health). She brings a strong analytical skillset, experience in program planning and evaluation, and extensive experience building relationships through thoughtful community engagement strategies.

Prior to starting at RCCbc, Theresa has held a number of collaborative roles, facilitating health research, educational recruitment, employment services, community sports, and fitness. Most recently, Theresa has been supporting the teaching of a number of course offerings within the Public Health Program at Simon Fraser University. She believes in high standards of client service and the importance of sharing and valuing lived experiences in evidence-based practice.

 When not working, Theresa can be found outdoors being active. Her favorite activities include yoga with her dog and anything on roller skates. She also enjoys developing her gardening skills and camping with friends.
