Drs. Omar and Danish Ahmad in ERs living extremes of pandemic — in Victoria, in New York

Omar Ahmad says he only has to talk to his brother to know what people living on Vancouver Island have been spared. Ahmad, 46, is the Victoria-based department head of emergency and critical-care medicine for Island Health, while his brother Danish Ahmad, 36, who specializes in emergency and critical-care medicine, is at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, which has been hit hard by the pandemic. Island Health Doctors Participate in Doctors of BC Be Active Campaign

It’s October, and that means Doctors of BC’s annual children’s health challenge Be Active Every Day is back. The challenge, which seeks to get kids aged 5-11 active and playing for at least 60 minutes every day, is coordinated by local physicians around the province who talk to students in their neighborhood elementary schools and encourage them to turn healthy choices into healthy habits.
