The Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) is seeking a full time Orthopedic Surgeon to join the North Island Campbell River Hospital located in Campbell River, BC.
The successful candidate will hold FRCSC qualification in Orthopedic Surgery and be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Candidates will have a strong focus in arthroplasty, preferably with subspecialty training.
The successful applicant will have exemplary interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively within the healthcare environment and demonstrate technical competence in providing orthopedic care
There is the possibility of joining an existing orthopedic surgery office. The hospital will provide 1 operating room day a week to begin, and 1 cast clinic day a week. On-call duties will be 1:9 and can vary slightly based on the number of surgeons in the call group.
The Campbell River Hospital serves a referral population of 60,000 and is a relatively new 95 bed hospital with state of the art operating rooms. Surgical services include fellowship trained orthopedics (joint revision, arthroscopy & spine), General Surgery, ENT, Plastics, Ob/Gyn, Urology, Dental, and Sedation Service for Endoscopy.
The hospital has a closed ICU, diagnostic (including CT scanner and MRI) and interventional radiology.
Island Health is affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and the Division of General Surgery supports R3 to R5 General Surgical Resident rotations in addition to the Postgraduate Family Practice Residency Program – Campbell River site residents, who are based at Campbell River General Hospital.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy Agreement (RSA), such as:
• Fee Premium - 6.09%
• Annual Flat Fee - $9,437.76
• Recruitment Incentive - $10,000 (pro-rated if part-time)
• Relocation Costs - up to a maximum of $15,000
• Rural CME: Years 3 & 4 - $3000/annum; after 4 years: $6000/annum
