Welcome New Medical Director—Dr. Adele Harrison

We are pleased to share after seven years of working with Quality, Safety and Improvement, Dr. Adele Harrison has chosen to join the Medical and Academic Affairs team in the role of Medical Director, Clinical Improvement and Medical Staff Development.

Adele will continue to provide Health Authority sponsorship to Physician Quality Improvement (PQI), and work in partnership with Decision Support and Clinical Analytics on clinical initiatives related to improving patient outcomes and enhanced medical staff practice. Reporting to the Executive Medical Director, Medical Staff Governance, Adele will support clinical improvement strategic priority projects including the Sepsis Quality Improvement initiative and Choosing Wisely Canada Diving into Overuse in Hospitals Campaign.

Adele completed her medical training in the UK and joined Island Health in 2006 from BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She worked as a Neonatologist at Victoria General Hospital until 2017, joining the Quality, Safety and Improvement portfolio as Medical Director in 2012.  Adele’s office will remain at St Joe’s Campus in the Comox Valley.
