VTE Prophylaxis for COVID-19

Studies describing the epidemiology and treatment of SARS-CoV-19 (COVID-19) suggest that severe COVID-19 infection is likely a hypercoagulable state that leads to an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and poorer prognosis. As a result, standard VTE prophylaxis regimens used in Canadian hospitals have been viewed to be potentially inadequate.
