One week left to apply to join C.A.R.E. Networks

Posted on: May 10, 2023

The deadline to submit an Expression of Interest to join new quality-focused committees has been extended to May 17 in order to ensure everyone who would like to submit an EOI has the opportunity to do so.

Island Health staff and medical staff, from direct care to leaders and clinical to non-clinical support, are invited to express interest in being part of C.A.R.E. Networks. The Networks will be responsible for identifying and implementing changes that will improve the quality of care in 13 large service categories, ranging from Long-term Care to Surgery. It's a unique new opportunity to participate in decision-making with Island-wide impact.

Because staff and medical staff are in the best position to not only recognize opportunities for improvement, but also understand how to implement them, it is essential that they are well-represented in these new clinical governance structures. The most important qualifications are a strong interest in quality work and expertise that is relevant to identifying and / or implementing quality improvements in a particular C.A.R.E. Network (ie: Pediatrics, Critical Care or Mental Health and Substance Use).

Things to consider:

  • The monthly time commitment is 5 hours to prepare for and attend two meetings
  • Meeting attendance will be accommodated within existing roles and compensation will align to collective agreements and contracts.
  • Additional new resources will be in place to support committee members
  • Manager or leader notification is required before you apply
