CPD Newsletter – Where did you go?

Continuing Professional Development information is now available here on the Medical Staff Website.  CPD round updates are also included in the monthly electronic medical staff newsletter, Medical Staff of Island Health. Please click here to sign up.

Although the format may be different, all the information about the various continuing medical education events occurring in Island Health and provincially will still be available.

Rather than relying on a PDF format, the links to rounds and events on the website will provide the most up to date and current information on CPD/CME. We invite you to browse the various offerings by searching each section:

  • Department educational sub-pages for rounds specific to department or discipline.
  • CME Events Calendar to see events occurring on a monthly basis.  (This will require login access.  Please contact  if you experience difficulty logging in).
  • UBC CPD website  for educational opportunities available province-wide.  Here you will also find information on how to access online modules.

We have also streamlined some of our processes:

Round notifications and sign-in sheets: We will continue to provide sign-in sheets for rounds. Since the sign-in sheets contain the title, speaker and room information we will no longer be distributing a separate notice sheet. Objectives can be viewed by clicking on a round or event within the CME Events Calendar. Personal CME attendance records are the responsibility of the individual and the office is not able to provide individual attendance reports.

Round evaluations: Evaluation is an essential part of the Continuing Medical Education process as it provides feedback about whether the needs of the target audience was addressed, learning objectives were met and participants were engaged. You will now be able to find and complete the evaluation survey for all hospital rounds by selecting your department and education sub-page.

Room Bookings: We will continue to pre-book video-conference rooms for those rounds where we have done so in the past. However, due to limited historical attendance at some sites, the bookings will be limited to five primary sites at RJH, VGH, NRGH, CVH, and CRH. If you are located at another site, you can attend by audio-conference (Instructions are on your department's educational page) or directly book an additional videoconferencing site.

We look forward to continuing to support you to meet your professional development requirements.
