Registration is open for Choosing Wisely at Island Health: Putting Recommendations into Practice, a 5 hour virtual symposium on November 20. The interactive event will include presentations on current engagement at Island Health and breakout sessions to explore areas of opportunity as we work together to achieve Level 2 and 3 designation. Island Health is also excited to present Dr. Dee Mangin as our keynote speaker.
Dr. Dee Mangin is the David Braley Chair and Professor in Family Medicine at McMaster University. Dr. Mangin is a family physician at the McMaster Family Practice Associate Chair (Research) in the Department and the Director of MUSIC, the McMaster University Sentinel and Information Collaboration practice-based research network. Her interests are patient-centered care (matching burden of care with the capacity to benefit), rational prescribing, polypharmacy and innovative models of primary care.
When registering you will have an opportunity to voice your thoughts on goals, barriers and interventions by sharing:
- one Choosing Wisely recommendation that should be spread across Island Health,
- one barrier to a Choosing Wisely recommendation that you would like to see addressed.
Agenda and registration for breakout rooms to follow.
This event is currently open to medical staff (physicians, midwives, dentists and nurse practitioners) at Island Health and sessional payment is available for fully-licensed SPs and GPs through Health System Redesign Funding. Registration for the plenaries will open to Island Health teams at a later date.
