As the third cohort wraps up, he BC Patient Safety and Quality Council is excited to announce that registration for the fourth cohort of the Clinician Quality Academy is now open. Clinician Quality Academy, run by the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council, is a version of the long-running Quality Academy program that is specifically designed to support physicians and other clinicians in leading quality and safety initiatives in BC's health care system

Introducing: Leadership Dyads
For the first time, the Clinician Quality Academy will also welcome clinician/administration leadership dyads. This unique opportunity will allow participants to register as a pair that works together on a shared improvement project to apply key learnings.

Individuals and teams should apply by March 15, 2019 to join Cohort 4, which will kick off in April, 2019.

What Can You Expect?
Clinician Quality Academy is a professional development program delivered over an eight-month period. Participants attend four in-person residency sessions and work on a quality project within their organization or practice. Along the way they receive support through webinars, an assigned Improvement Advisor and expert Faculty.

The curriculum of Clinician Quality Academy features content and learning modules that have been tailored to physicians. This includes a focus on clinical roles in leading quality and safety initiatives and an emphasis on case studies and peer learning. 

What Will You Learn?
Participants will develop capability to lead improvement projects, teach and advise others, and strategically use opportunities and tools to provide better care for patients. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn about the core components of quality improvement, including:

  • Models and frameworks to support quality improvement
  • Measurement strategies for improvement and understanding variation
  • Role of culture and how to shape culture
  • The economics of quality improvement
  • Strategies for engaging patients and the public
  • Sustaining and spreading changes

Will I Recieve CME/CPD Credits?
Clinician Quality Academy has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the British Columbia Chapter for up to 61 Mainpro+ Credits. CPD Credits provided through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada are currently under advisement by UBC CPD.

Clinician Quality Academy is a professional development program delivered over a seven month period. Participants attend four in-person residency sessions and work on a quality project within their organization or practice. Along the way they receive support through webinars, an assigned Improvement Advisor and expert Faculty. Curriculum reflects the different roles and perspectives of practicing clinicians in BC, and it is delivered through a model that accommodates their clinical schedules.
