Virtual Care

Island Health is actively working with clinicians to support the delivery of services using Virtual Care. We encourage clinicians to reach out to the contacts provided below for information on how to incorporate these tools in to your practice.

  1. BC Virtual Visit (formerly MyVirtualVisit) is a secure video solution that enables visits with a healthcare provider from the comfort of home using a personal smartphone, tablet or computer. It can be tailored to support clinical workflows and scheduling of virtual visits. This service is actively used by Island Health ambulatory services, community health services, primary and urgent care services. Account requests for BC Virtual Visit can be sent to Telehealth@islandhealth.ca. Requests will be prioritized and attended to as fast as possible.  See: BC Virtual Visit Information for Healthcare Providers

  2. COVID-19 Virtual Monitoring uses digital technology to provide regular monitoring of COVID-19 cases and contacts from a distance, enabling timely medical help for those who need it. This service does not accept referrals and is instead arranged through internal Public Health. If a person has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been in contact with someone that has tested positive, Public Health will contact the individual to enroll them in the monitoring service. Questions about this service can be sent to hhmcovid@islandhealth.ca

  3. COVID-19 Intensive Home Monitoring (IHM)  is for adults with mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms who require increased supports to manage their symptoms at home, or who might be at greater risk of deterioration and poor outcomes. Referrals to this service can be made through Community Health Services or by Public Health. To contact the Intensive Home Monitoring Nurses directly: 1-833-610-2255 or homemonitoring@islandhealth.ca.
