Island Health’s Department of Psychiatry, South Island, has an opportunity for a part-time Psychiatrist to join the Urgent Short-Term Assessment and Treatment (USTAT) team.
The USTAT clinic is a vibrant interdisciplinary outpatient clinic focused on assisting people with high prevalence disorders of anxiety, mood, adjustment, addictions and personality disorders. The clinic integrates psychiatric management with a range of individual and group psychotherapies provided in collaboration with the interdisciplinary staff. We utilize a “stepped care” approach offering services in both focus and intensity that best matches patients’ needs. The clinic works collaboratively with primary care partners using a "shared care", approach.
The successful candidate will have expertise and interest in working in a collaborative interdisciplinary team including psychiatrist, therapists, social workers, nurse practitioner and nurses. The candidate will have expertise utilizing psychotherapy and psychiatric management skills, as well as experience in the assessment and treatment of people presenting with a broad range of problems including Mood, Anxiety, Adjustment, Addictions and Personality.
On call responsibility is mandatory for Island Health psychiatry services.
As Island Health is part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program there is opportunity for training of medical students and residents and applying for a clinical appointment is expected.
Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.
Administrative duties of the position include, attending clinical team meetings and provide reports to the Department of Psychiatry meetings.
Office space for assessments, office tasks, and documentation is available, computer and administrative support as part of the general service. A rich multidisciplinary environment for ongoing clinical learning.
