We are seeking a part-time Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist to work in a tertiary outpatient setting with children, youth and their caregivers in Victoria, BC.
This position works as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker, Clinical Counselor, Certified Behavior Analyst, Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Dietician.
The Program serves children and youth (up to age 19) who are experiencing severe, complex and chronic behavioural, emotional, and/or psychiatric difficulties, which significantly impact their ability to function at home, school and the community.
The Program offers a continuum of services including comprehensive assessment, treatment, case management and consultation.
The ongoing involvement and participation of families, community physicians and mental health professionals is essential to support the continuing needs of all clients. Child, Youth and Family Mental Health and Substance Use (CYFMHSU) goal is to involve all significant members of the clients’ family and support systems in our process. We communicate/collaborate frequently throughout the assessment and treatment period – often via planned case conferences with community service providers, the caregivers and the client.
Parents and family members participate as equal members of the treatment teams.
Flexibility within a growing and changing clinical environment, and comfort with a collaborative and interdisciplinary service, are imperative. Other services provided by CYFMHSU include, Inpatient at Ledger House, Discovery Substance use services, Crisis Services at VGH and EMHS for youth.
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will participate in the core Child Psychiatry call group as required. This call group is primarily telephone based service.
