Island Health’s Division of Anatomical Pathology has an opportunity for an anatomical pathologist to join the team at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.
You have a Fellowship in Anatomic Pathology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or its equivalent) and are eligible for licensure in the province of British Columbia. You are an excellent diagnostician with superb interpersonal and collaborative abilities. You have a broad experience in anatomical pathology, have subspecialty fellowship training or a proven expertise in Thoracic pathology, have proven expertise in Head and Neck pathology, and are willing to participate in the cytology service and, in particular, the rapid on-site evaluation of fine needle aspiration biopsies. Most departmental members have fellowship training in their area of interest and this is strongly favoured for new recruits. Your primary duties will relate to your areas of specialization, but participation in the group coverage of frozen section and autopsy services is also required. A commitment to teaching is also expected, as you will mentor students of the Island Medical Program at the University of Victoria and physicians from a variety of programs.
In this position, you will be eligible for appointment in the Island Health Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics, and as an Associate of the Victoria Pathology Consulting Corporation. You may also apply for a clinical appointment with the Department of Pathology at the University of British Columbia.
