The Department of Emergency & Critical Care Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine is seeking a physician for a permanent position. We are a group of enthusiastic ERP's with CCFP and ABEM certification.
The ER sees around 125 visits per day. We have recently started a Rapid Assessment and Discharge Unit (RADU) which has added a new shift 7 days a week from 8 am until 1600. This unit manages patients meeting strict criteria who are likely to be discharged within 24hrs of admission. The RADU physician also sees regular ED patients. We have double coverage from 1100 to 0200 every day and some triple coverage.
We are looking for someone willing to work ER and RADU shifts. The work will be half time with potential to work up to full-time based on availability.
We are affiliated with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program and participate in teaching of medical students and residents.
Plans are underway for a new hospital in the Cowichan Valley to be built in the next 5-10 years.
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy agreement (RSA) including: Fee Premium 4.2%, $4,222.80 Annual Flat Fee and CME payments of $3,000 in years 3 and 4 and $6,000 after 4 years.

- Surgeons of British Columbia Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent
- Emergency Experience
