In the newly formed Port McNeill Health Care Centre you will have the opportunity to participate in the development and direction of the clinic along with a strong collaborative team of colleagues. Multiple full-time, part-time or practice share opportunities exist.
The Port McNeill and District Hospital, a 10-bed acute care facility, provides emergency, hospice and palliative care, diagnostic imaging/radiology, laboratory services, mental health and low-risk obstetrical services.
There is a requirement to provide on-call ER coverage at Port McNeill & District Hospital, on average 6-8 24 hour on-call shifts per month. Experience in rural family medicine and a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team-based, collaborative practice is an asset

Benefits
As a new community physician you will benefit from reimbursement of up to three (3) months residential accommodation. An attractive clinical practice overhead is available and is stepped to allow you to build your practice stress free. Overhead rates:
- First 3 months = $0
- Months 4-6 = $2,750 per month
- After 6 months, $5500 per month
Additionally, physicians may be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
- Recruitment Incentive: $20,000 (full-time)
- Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000
- Fee Premium: 22.82%
- Annual Flat Fee: $26,269.08
- Rural CME: starting at $3,520/annum in year 3 & 4 in community, increasing to a maximum of $5,720/annum after 4 years.
Rural GP Locum Program provides $900/day to locum physician with 43 days/annum locum coverage to resident physician.
Community Information
Port McNeill, with a population of 2,600, located on the north east coast of Vancouver Island, enjoys a mild climate and year round recreational activities such as sport fishing, windsurfing, scuba diving, boating, hiking and wildlife viewing. In addition to the primary industry of forestry, Port McNeill is the center of aquaculture activity on northern Vancouver Island. Tourism is a growing industry with eco-tourism flourishing.
Port McNeill is accessible by highway and commercial bus service. The local airport is private but a commercial airport, with regular scheduled daily flights is located 36 km north in Port Hardy. Port McNeill boasts an active small business sector and a lively arts community.
