Immediate vacancy for a full-time Pediatrician. Nanaimo has 6 FTE pediatricians providing community and hospital-based work with a 1:6 funded on-call schedule. Part-time or other flexible job-share arrangement would be considered.
Our group rotates “on service” weeks at the hospital 1:6.
Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (224 acute beds) has a dedicated pediatric ward and active outpatient facility supported by a core team of pediatric nurses, dietician, diabetic nurse educator, social worker, and a full-time child life worker.
In terms of community work, we provide general Pediatric consultative care (primary care only for complex patients). Anticipated volume of referrals should provide average of 2-3 office days per week, for this position. Shared office space is available with reasonable overhead.
The hospital has a new state-of-the-art 9-bed, level 2b NICU, providing provincial beds to infants >32 weeks gestation, including short-term ventilation and TPN.
The Nanaimo medical community offers the opportunity for teaching and is a UBC Postgraduate Family Practice Residency Program site.
Nanaimo is an exciting place to live with a breathtaking waterfront.
