A locum opportunity is available for a family physician at Port McNeill Medical Collaborative; an integrated primary care practice. The primary care team includes family physicians, a primary care nurse, social worker, community office assistant and a scheduler. To ensure patient care and follow-up is well coordinated, primary care services are linked to all other Island Health programs (MHSU, HCC, Public Health, nutrition, and diabetes education). The scope of practice includes community practice, Emergency Department coverage, Maternity Care, Walk-in shifts and remote outreach clinic visits via road, ferry and helicopter.
Port McNeill & District Hospital is a UBC Island Medical School Program residency teaching site and a designated site of the Rural Education Coordination Center of BC. Services provided at the hospital include:
- 10 acute care beds
- Active Emergency Department
- Hospice and palliative care
- Adult inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation services
- Laboratory Services
- General Radiology & Ultrasound
- Mental Health
- On-site detox program
- Regional Psychiatry Observation Room
- Visiting consultants: Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Psychiatry and ENT
