Anatomical Pathologist 100-1461

Reference Number
100-1461

Island Health’s Division of Anatomical Pathology has an opportunity for one Anatomical Pathologist to join the team at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia.

Requirements include a Fellowship in Anatomic Pathology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or its equivalent) and eligibility for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.

We are seeking an excellent diagnostician with superb interpersonal and collaborative abilities to join our head and neck and pulmonary pathology group. Subspecialty expertise in one or both disciplines is required with expertise in head and neck pathology being of particular interest as a complement to the expertise in pulmonary pathology already on site. Expertise in cytopathology would also be an asset.

Most departmental members do have fellowship training in at least one of their areas of interest. Work experience is preferred, but recent trainees will also be considered. Primary duties will relate to the above-mentioned areas of specialization, but participation in the group coverage of frozen section and hospital (non-coroner) autopsy services is also required. A commitment to teaching is also expected, as group members mentor students of the Island Medical Program at the University of Victoria, as well as residents and fellows from a variety of programs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment in the Island Health Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics and as an Associate of the Victoria Pathology Consulting Corporation.  A clinical appointment with the Department of Pathology at the University of British Columbia will also be available.
