The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Island Health, is seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to practice in Saanich who will join 7 others who practice in the Greater Victoria Area. 

The successful candidate will provide clinical service and leadership to the interdisciplinary Seniors Outpatient Clinics located at Saanich Peninsula Hospital (SPH). In addition, s/he will provide geriatric psychiatry consultation liaison service to SPH and selected residential care facilities as well as consult to an interdisciplinary Seniors Outreach Team co-located with Home and Community Care within a defined catchment area. 

Participation in the Geriatric Psychiatry call rotation is a requirement of this position.

The Division is strongly committed to undergraduate and postgraduate education. Victoria also has a complete psychiatry residency program, and 1-2 PGY3 residents are anchored within geriatric psychiatry.  Clinical faculty appointments are available for all geriatric psychiatrists through a joint application to the University of Victoria Island Medical Program and University of BC Faculty of Medicine.

The Division enjoys collegial relationships with the Island Health Geriatric Medicine, Adult Psychiatry and Hospitalist services. Many Island Health Geriatric Specialty Services are integrated with Geriatric Medicine and we are currently integrating our outpatient clinics at SPH with Geriatric Medicine.  Both the C/L service and the outpatient clinics are supported by interdisciplinary teams.

Benefits

Mixed fee-for-service and sessional billing; MOCAP
Education, Training and Experience

• FRCPC or FRCPC eligible
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC
• Eligible for membership in Canadian Association of Geriatric Psychiatry (mandatory)
• Experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary, community psychogeriatric care
• Subspecialty qualification in geriatric psychiatry – obtained or to be obtained
• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills
