Join our team of 8 full-time family physicians who work as part of a Primary Care Home that includes a team of Island Health-employed allied health providers, including 3 registered nurses, a dietician, and a social worker. Clinic physicians are also responsible for providing care to residents of the community's 32-bed residential care facility. In addition, clinic physicians provide walk-in care and palliative care services for the community in conjunction with the Sooke Hospice Society. On-call obligations are shared equally among clinic physicians (currently 1-in-8) and call volumes are typically very light. Hospital privileges and maternity care is available.
Sooke is a picturesque, ocean-front, semi-rural community on the west coast of Vancouver Island, approximately 40 minutes from Victoria. As a part of a temperate rainforest, Sooke enjoys one of the most mild climates in Canada. The town is known for it's vibrant arts community, extensive parks and hiking trails--including the well known West Coast and Juan de Fuca trails--world-class salmon and halibut fishing, and year-round outdoor recreation opportunities, including mountain biking, kayaking, and surfing. The community is served by a single modern medical clinic, currently home to 8 family physicians supported by a team of Island Health-employed allied health providers, including 3 registered nurses, a dietician, and a social worker.
