For: STI (Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis and/or Mycoplasma genitalium) nucleic acid amplification testing

New Collection Devices:

  • 441122 Vaginal Specimen Transport for the BD ProbeTec Amplified DNA Assays (purple dry swabs)
  • 441357 BD ProbeTec Qx Collection Kit for Endocervical or Lesion Specimens
  • 441358 BD Male Urethral Specimen Collection Kit for the BD ProbeTec Amplified DNA Assays

May I use my remaining stock of BD Collection devices?

  • Yes. Please continue to use and order the BD swabs until stock is depleted or swabs expire.
  • Note: It is acceptable to use the Endocervical Collection Kit (441357) once the Vaginal Specimen Transport swabs (441122) have been depleted for vagina, throat, rectal, skin lesions and eye sites.
    • Please be aware when collecting samples that the Endocervical Collection Kit swabs have a breakpoint.

Are there any changes to the urine collection containers?

  • No. Urine collection containers remain the same.
  • Please continue to collect urine samples in sterile 90 mL pink top plastic containers.
