On behalf of: Indigenous Health and Rural & Remote Operations
The Indigenous Health and Rural & Remote Operations Portfolio, in partnership with the People Portfolio, are pleased to announce the next session for all Indigenous staff, medical staff and volunteers who live or work in the Central Island region. Your voice matters, and we would like to hear from you.
Island Health is committed to anti-racism, cultural safety, humility, and creating conditions that contribute to a safe environment for both patients and employees. As a part of this initiative, a series of gatherings open to all employees, medical staff and volunteers across the organization who self-identify as Indigenous are currently underway.
These gatherings are intended to provide an opportunity for you to share your experience as an employee or volunteer with senior leadership and be heard. This will be a safe space to connect and share a meal together.
These gatherings will offer an opportunity to sit and connect with members of the Executive Leadership Team - hear directly from them about the steps being taken to support reconciliation, cultural safety, and humility, and additional steps to improve the experiences of Indigenous employees, medical staff, and volunteers. You will also learn about your rights, the supports available, and more.
Members of Leadership from Indigenous Employee Experience and Human Resources look forward to connecting with you.
The next gathering is confirmed for central Vancouver Island. This gathering will be facilitated by an Indigenous-owned planning firm, Sa̲nala Planning, and details of the agenda will be shared closer to the date. Cultural supports will be available on-site.
