Better Care, Better Value - Town Hall Series:
Listening to staff and medical staff is at the heart of the Better Care, Better Value initiative. Throughout June and July, three in-person/virtual Town Halls offered attendees an opportunity to hear directly from CEO Kathy MacNeil, VP of People & Communications Jamie Braman, and other senior and local leaders about this initiative. The Better Care, Better Value Town Hall series is now concluded.
Thank you to the staff and medical staff who attended the Island Health Town Hall on July 4. It was a full room at Campbell River Hospital, with approximately 40 participants in attendance, and a staggering 1,149 individuals joining online!
A recording of the July 4 Town Hall is available online now. - Contact Communication@islandhealth.ca for link access.

Passionate dialogue took place between staff, medical staff and executive leadership as attendees discussed the value-focused mindset Island Health is adopting to maximize annual funding by reducing unnecessary costs and redirecting resources to meet patient needs.
- Over 2,600 individual ideas have been brought to the ThoughtExchange platform, with over 98,000 impressions, from our staff and medical staff. This feedback will help inform changes within our organization as a part of the Better Care, Better Value initiative.
- Portfolio reviews and changes will continue to take place over the next four to five weeks. Non-contract job security, staffing and retention were discussed and clarity was provided on how impacted individuals will be engaged and informed.
- Frontline care providers engaged in dialogue about how we can improve clinical care both locally and across the region - with a focus on acute and primary care.
- All questions submitted to Sli.do will be answered. A finalized Q&A document is being worked on and will be uploaded to the Town Hall webpage when complete.
Thank you!

The next Town Hall will occur in Fall 2025.
