Winter is here – and the Vancouver Island Toyota 4 x 4 Club has once again offered to help health-care employees who need rides in the snow. These amazing people have helped Island Health employees the past few years, providing dozens of rides to and from work, at locations from Port Hardy to Victoria.
How it works:
-
BEFORE you get stuck in the snow – you'll want to log on to Facebook and request to join the VI Toyota 4x4 & VIHA Staff Transportation page.
-
When you need a ride, provide the pertinent information (where you live, which site and what time you work).
-
Club members will contact you if they can help. If you aren't on Facebook, you can ask a family member or colleague to request a ride on your behalf and help you make arrangements.
-
The service is free – but riders are welcome to donate or tip to help their volunteer drivers with fuel where possible.
-
Note: This opportunity is only available when when there is snow on the ground. These are volunteers and are not providing transport outside of snowy weather.
This Facebook page is for ride coordination only. If you are not able to attend work, please communicate this through your normal process.
In addition, if you have your own 4x4, and have room to pick someone up on your way in, or on your drive home, you may create your own post and offer your services.
If you are driving, please read more information about winter driving safety here – and thank you.
A poster is available to print/post in your work areas. Safe travels!
