We are excited to share that the Choosing Wisely at Island Health Oversight Committee will be hosting a 1 hour virtual event focused on implementing Using Labs Wisely on Friday, December 6. This session will be a combination of presentation and group discussion providing an opportunity for us to come together and identify ways we can Use Labs Wisely. Lab test ordering is the single highest volume medical activity in Canada. Recognizing our healthcare system is often faced with staff and resource shortages alongside the climate crisis it is more important than ever to focus on the right test at the right time for the right purpose. Reducing unnecessary lab tests has a measurable impact on our patients and on planetary health.
