Perinatal Psychiatry (100-2253) - Victoria

The Department of Psychiatry, Island Health, South Island, is looking for part-time General Psychiatrists to provide Perinatal Pychiatry Services.

The Perinatal Psychiatry Service operates a Clinic within the Victoria General Hospital (VGH), in close collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics  and Other Pregnancy Care Providers from Family Practice and Midwifery. It has a close working relationship with the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service. The patient population includes women requiring psychiatric assessment and/or treatment either during pregnancy or up to 1 -year post-partum. Pre-conception consultation is also offered to women with chronic mental health disorders, to support them in decision making and preparation for pregnancy. Care is generally provided on an outpatient basis.

Geriatric Psychiatrist (200-1431) - Duncan

The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Island Health, is seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join 2 others in the Cowichan Valley. 

 Patient population is Geriatric, generally over 65 years of age but with psychiatric and/or cognitive challenges and indices of frailty.  Clinical services provided include Consulting status for outpatients, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, direct and indirect care, multidisciplinary team leadership and medico legal expertise as required by the BC Mental Health and Adult Guardianship Acts.

General Psychiatrist (200-1429) - Nanaimo

The Department of Psychiatry at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) has an opportunity for a full-time General Psychiatrists.

Nanaimo’s Department of Psychiatry consists of adult, child and youth and geriatric psychiatrists working in community and acute settings. Acute services are provided at NRGH, which has 224 acute care beds and a 24-bed inpatient psychiatry unit. In September 2012 our new Emergency Department opened, which a 4-bed Psychiatric intensive Care Unit (PICU) and busy Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES).

Psychiatrist (200-1344) - Parksville

The Island Health Department of Psychiatry has a locum opportunity for a full-time Psychiatrist in the beautiful community of Parksville. 

In this position you will provide consultation to patients and their families/caregivers, primary care physicians and fellow health care professionals in an outpatient setting. You will provide clinical expertise to the ASTAT/Addictions and the Outreach Teams. The practice is located in the new Oceanside Health Centre which offers an interdisciplinary team environment comprised of physicians and all allied and community health care providers in one state-of-the art location serving the communities of Parksville and Qualicum Beach. You will be available to your registered outpatients, with coverage as needed.

General Psychiatrist (300-0736) - Campbell Rive and Comox

Island Health’s North Vancouver Island Psychiatrist Services has an opening for a full-time General Psychiatrist. The successful applicant will provide the following services:

A. Location: Campbell River Hospital
Service: Consultation Liaison
Time: Part time (approximately 3-4 hours), 2-4 days per week, Monday-Friday

B. Location: Community of Comox Valley/Campbell River/North Island
Service: Collaborative Care Consultations, MHSU consultations (ASTAT and ACSS), North Island psychiatric outreach
Time: Part Time (approximately  3-4 hours), 4-5 days per week, Monday-Friday
