Happy New Year to our readers! The Mental Health Act (MHA) Infobits monthly newsletter highlights MHA educational supports, resources and provincial updates to support your practice. 2024 brings significant changes to how we administer the MHA in our facilities. We will regularly update you on the changes, resources and actions required. January issue is covering the new Medical Certificates, forms 4.1 and 4.2 that will take effect on February 1, 2024.
The provincial deadline to discontinue the use of old Forms 4 for initiating involuntary admissions is January 31st. The new Forms 4.1 and 4.2 must be used in order for the involuntary admission be legally recognized.
