This position will work in partnership with the four W’SANEC Health Directors and their respective communities. The health directors advocates for their communities and are developing a plan to implement comprehensive accountability measures, oversight and support for the general practitioner. This position will be part of a larger on-reserve team comprised of Nurse Practitioners, Primary Care Nurses, Mental Health and Addictions Counsellors, Indigenous Wellness Supports. This team is part of a larger Saanich Peninsula Primary Care Network with additional resources – pharmacist, MH Clinicians, Social Workers. The position will start at Tsawout First Nation and will transition to the WSANEC clinic (Address: 1210 Totem Ln, North Saanich, BC V8L 5S4) when ready. Utilizing a hub and spoke model, providers will provide services in the other three W’SANEC communities. Preferred experience: Experience with First Nations communities including: demonstrated commitment to Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racist practice in health care, Trauma informed care, Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews and Indigenous ways of understanding health and wellness, a relational approach to health care provision and a strong desire to engage with and learn from Indigenous patients, families, and community members about their needs and how best to serve them.
