Urgent Shift Opportunities

Island Health and your colleagues are requesting your support with upcoming emergency department, inpatient care, and general internal medicine shift coverage across Vancouver Island sites.

Urgent/Critical Emergency Shifts

The following shift(s), if left unfilled, will result in site closure or diversion.

West Coast General Hospital: March 3, 4, 5, 6 (2200-0800); 16 (0800-1500); 16 (1500-2200)

Port McNeill Hospital: March 10 (0900-0900)

    • Day Shift Weekday $3645
    • Day Shift Weekend $3915
    • Night Shift $4131

Please be advised that the Rural Emergency Enhancement Fund (REEF) and the Medical On-Call Availability Program (MOCAP) are administered by the local physician group.

IF available, eligible travel support includes:

  • Travel time honorarium (within BC):
    • $250  - 2.5 hrs or less return trip
    • $500   -2.5 hrs up to 4 hours return trip
    • $1000 - 4 hrs to 10 hours return trip
    • $1500 - greater than 10 hours
  • Paid mileage from your location to the site at $0.72 km
  • Meal allowance (while traveling)
  • Accommodation
