Dr. Marie-Clare Hopwood and Dr. Wendy Johnsen will present at regularly scheduled Central and North Island Divisions of Family Practice meetings this fall. Family physicians will have the opportunity to speak with MAiD and palliative care physicians and enrich their understanding of how to provide optimal, patient-centered care at end of life.
Dr. Hopwood and Dr. Johnsen will provide current information about clinical support teams and current best practice for MAiD and Palliative Care. They want to hear family physicians’ experiences of providing end of life care. They aim to record strengths, to share and consult around areas for improvement to develop actions to address. This is a rich and timely opportunity to connect with a local expert in end of life care at Island Health.
Contact Rosanne.Beuthin@islandhealth.ca, Clinical Nurse Specialist and project lead, to determine the date and time Dr. Hopwood or Dr. Johnsen will be in your area.
Both physicians are funded through the Health System Redesign (HSR) Initiative. HSR is supported by three Joint Collaborative Committees of Doctors of BC and the Ministry of Health: Shared Care, Specialist Services, and General Practice Services Committees. HSR funding is intended to assist health authorities to receive meaningful physician input and engagement in time-limited acute and community-based service redesign activities, projects and broad scale physician engagement.
