Earlier this month, CEO Kathy MacNeil shared her support for people in Ukraine and for all Island Health employees who are Ukrainian, Russian or in some way impacted by the war with Russia. The images on TV are heartbreaking and where we can, we all want to help.
Organizationally, Island Health has reached out to the Compassionate Resource Warehouse - an organization we have worked with successfully many times - to see what opportunities there are to support the Ukraine.
Since the invasion began, Island Health has been able to respond to a call for specific equipment, providing:
20 beds
4 cribs
2 equipment carts
2 Broda chairs
Surplus beds going to Compassionate Warehouse for their immediate shipment to Ukraine.
Individually, we can help by reaching out to trusted foundations and support organizations in Canada or abroad with financial donations. Below is a list of organizations that have a solid reputation for financial management and follow-up.
As Kathy noted, the presence of war causes great uncertainty and is deeply unsettling for many of us. Lifting each other up is more important now than ever.
